At the Vets

So yesterday was a fun day for me – NOT!!! You know how I told you the other day that Anna my vet said I had a cataract… well yesterday I had to go to a big, funny smelling vets in Sutton called Rutland House whilst they checked the pressure in my eyes. The funny coincidence was, was that the vets was in the same building that mum worked in for 11 years when she first started work. It used to be an office furniture company called “Matthews Office Furniture” back then and mum said it looked VERY different now….. Well she would say that wouldn’t she, she hasn’t been there for over 10 years!!!!

Anyways, when we got to the vet, a lady in green put some funny stuff in my eyes called Anna Stetic (or something) and then mum and I went back to the waiting room. It was very odd as my eyes started to feel funny and when I blinked, it was as if I couldn’t feel my eyes at all…. Then after about 15 minutes, the green lady came to get me and took me into a room to do something a bit gross to my eyes with a machine – I didn’t like it very much. I was a bit scared as mum couldn’t come with me, but the green lady was nice and soon enough, I was taken back to mum and I have her a big cuddle and lick.

The upshot it, is that I DON’T have cataracts in my eyes and they think that I am just getting a bit old and things… (well I am 13 you know)…. So the nice green lady sent me home with some tablets (which I hate), that make me feel a bit relaxed and take some of the ache away from my old muscles and joints. Phew.

Also, mum was out all day on Monday too, as she went with Great Grandma Jessie to Clatterbridge Hospital as GGJ had to go for a scan as she is poorly and the doctors are hoping to make her feel a bit better with something called Radiation – or was is a Radiator????? Anyway,  I know that GGJ was a bit nervous, but mum said they had a nice ride in a mini-bus and the bonus is, is that I had a full afternoon’s undisturbed sleep :-)

And finally, (of course), it’s now only 2 weeks on Saturday until Mum & Dad get married and we are all really excited about that – Yippee!!! I just hope that mum manages to get a job soon, as even though I ♥ having her at home, I am also getting tired from all the walking… plus if she has more money then she will be able to buy more dog treats won’t she?!?!?!?

Woof Woof xxx

Woweee, we have just come back from our brilliant and first ever Go Walkies sponsored dog walk in aid of Guide Dogs for Blind People.

We had a brilliant time and overall 5 dogs did the walk with their owners and friends. I made lots of new friends and they included:

  • Sabre (Bull Mastif/New Foundland X Breed)
  • Solo (Flat Haired Retriever)
  • Dusty (Spaniel)
  • Sally (Spaniel)
  • Faith (Golden Labrador)
  • Andy (Golden Labrador)

Faith and Andy came with their owners Lee and Jess and whilst Faith is a retired guide dog, Andy is a working dog and I was very pleased to meet them all. Solo is also a working dog and he just came along for a lovely walk with us.

The walk started at the Sankey Valley Visitors Centre in Blackbrook and we were guided along our walk by Dave Owen who works for St Helens council as part of the Ranger Service. Dave was great as he told us lots about the local bird and plant life and we even had a sniff of some wild garlic which was growing happily alongside the brook.

Our walk lasted just over an hour and all doggies and humans were very well behaved and we all even had a go of Grandma Dixon’s raffle when we got back as well as getting some cake from mum and some water from Dave the ranger. Woof Woof Woof.

The best part of all was that we raised nearly £300 to support Guide Dogs and we couldn’t be happier – especially since it was grey and horrible this morning, but it didn’t rain one drop on our walk. :) Wanna see our photos…

Aren’t humans funny?! Funny perculiar though, not funny Ha Ha. Tonight for no apparent reason, my mum & dad and I all got in the car and went into St Helens. We parked up outside this building called ‘Silhouette”, mum got out and dad and I stayed in the car. We were there for AGES and everytime someone went past, I thought it might be mum, but she didn’t come back for a whole hour!!!!!

She was all hot and sweaty and giggly and gabbly about something called ZUMBA which she had just done?! No I had NO idea either. Shall I explain?

Mum had done a new class at Silhouette Dance Club in St Helens called ‘ZUMBA” and she really really enjoyed it. When I asked her what the woof ZUMBA was, she showed me this video:

and these are the details of the classes:

Z-UMBA DANCING

Tuesday 8:30pm (from March 9th 2010)
Tuesday 7:00pm (from April 13th 2010)

All styles of Latin, Salsa, Merengue and Hip Hop combined to Funky and Latin music

She loved it and said she is definitely going again next week. I don’t get it, why can’t she just go for a walk instead – surely a good run and sniff would be just as much fun?

Anyway, this is the Silhouette Dance Club website if you fancy a go…. http://www.silhouettedanceclub.co.uk/index.html

Thankfully we are back at home now and if I am not mistaken I can smell something brill cooking in the kitchen.. *shouts* DAD!!!!!! Woof Woof.

Oh what a lovely, sunny day in Haydock!!! Can we believe it has been a bit miserable and cold all throughout August and now suddenly in September its gone all Indian Summer  on us! Woof Woof!. So today mum had a massive lie in this morning and when she got up we all went out in the car to have a look at a massive sculpture in St Helens called “Dream“. Mum & dad have been wanting to see it for a while as it’s visible from the M62 and from the roads around Grandma Barbara & Grandad Wack’s house, so off we went.

We drove to a pub called the Smithy Manor* which has a big car park and where most visitors to Dream park. Then there is a 5-10 min walk up a wide footpath till you get to the top of the hill and Dream. We have to say that we were very impressed with it and it is fascinating to look at. I also got to run round loads off lead and even met a husky called Otto and  a little girl came to stroke me too. There are lots of little paths around there as it on the site where Sutton Manor Colliery used to be and lots of trees have been planted and benches installed.

I had a brill walk and then when we came back, we all sat outside in the sunshine and had our lunch. Brilliant xx

* Mum said that the address of the pub where we parked today is Smithy Manor, Jubits Lane, St Helens, Merseyside, WA9 4BB.

Here is the video mum did:

I’ve had a great day! Mum & Dad took me for a massive 5 mile walk around Carr Mill Dam. It was amazing and I a pooped! We started off from the car park at the Ship Inn in Blackbrook and then walked along the path till we got to the Dam and then we did a full loop of the dam. There were lots of men fishing, some people in tents with lovely sausages on a fire and even some powerboat racing! (which was noisy, but exciting. I spent ages rolling in something smelly, but mum was NOT happy! When we got home, they took me straight upstairs and made me have a *shivers* bath!! I HATE baths! They make me all wet and cold, I have to shake loads and run around till I get warm again!

I love going for walks though and today I met loads of doggy friends to sniff and play with, even a tan dog that looked just like me! We even took some photos which you can see in our gallery.

All in all I’ve had a lovely day and mum tell’s me that dad is running the Manchester 10k tomorrow morning, so I will have to keep a look out for him on the TV! Woof Luck To Dad!

Bye for now

x

Well it’s a little while since I wrote in my dog blog, but I’ve been a busy little doggie!

What’s happened? Well everything and nothing really. I have been spending my days as usual, sleeping and waiting for mum and dad to come home. We have been on many walks and trips out and today dad is taking me for a long walk to Carr Mill Dam whilst mum is working. Mum hand dad have been watching a cool guy called Cesar Millan on the TV and they have been trying some of his techniques out on me. I am getting good as well!

I have been enjoying the burst of nice weather we are having, is there anything better than lying in the sun and having a snooze? It’s only about 4 weeks now till we go on our holidays to Torquay, and I am looking forward to having a good run on the beach and in the Devon countryside. I am NOT looking forward to the journey though.. I don’t mind the car but mum says it will takes ages….. I will just have to nosy out of the back window like I normally do!

Anyway, I have been rolling in something smelly this morning so I am hoping that mum doesn’t make me go in the bath later.. .what do you think my chances are?

Bye for now
xx

Do you know, if its not one thing its another! I am all snuggled up in my den, when dad get’s up for work and makes me go out for a wee.  I just get settled again when that horrible postman comes and makes me bark my head off. Then the pizza leaflets and the St Helens Star… what’s a dog got to do to get a good kip around here? Thankfully mum is off today as she and dad are getting a new bed and mum is waiting in.

I have just realised that I have lots of different nicknames, the current count is 7!! See below:

  • Pegler
  • Peg
  • Pecksickle
  • Dog Face
  • Dogginton
  • Trouble

The list goes on! Actually, I wonder if any of my doggy friends have nicknames? Why don’t you email me peggy@haydockdogblog.co.uk  if you fancy sharing, mum says she’ll post the best ones on my blog next time. Woof and Licks Pegg x

Its snowing, its snowing!!! I just love it when it snows, there is so much to sniff under the white stuff and it feel lovely to roll over and over in it! Auntie Jill has been again this morning whilst daddy gave her a football lesson. Mum & I went for a walk on the field with them to say hello. I was just sniffing in my normal places when I spotted dad in the distance.  I ran towards him as fast as I could and he gave me a big cuddle and fuss and then I ran back to mum and she did the same!! I love running I do.

Mum and I carried on with our walk and we met 2 brown dogs who were dead friendly. I played with them for a while until I got fed up and went back to my sniffing. When we got back, I was so mucky again that mum had to tie me up and rub me clean with a towel. She think I don’t like it cause I always look sad, but I love it really and if I look sad enough, I always get a chew stick… bonus!

Auntie Jill has gone home now and dad is in the bath, hmmmm time for a tummy tickle I think…. “Mum!!!!”  Here is a picture of me & mum in the snow! Bye xxx
