Homeward Bound
Oh dogbloggers, we are home. Mum is still poorly and dad had to drive us home in mum’s car. I have to say that mum has slept for most of today and dad has been really great looking after her. Of course there is nothing wrong with me, but family holidays really wipe me out and I need a good 24-48 hours solid kipping before I feel back to my full peggy-dog super strength. Woof Woof.
We left Centre Parcs at around 9:30 this morning and got home a couple of hours later. I helped dad unpack the car and we brought all our cases in, I put the kettle on and made everyone….. ok ok ok, we all know I’m lying… I just came in and zonked right out. ME…. carry a SUITCASE… AS IF!!!!
Anyway we are glad to be home and had a great time. Roll on Angelsey I say….
As usual, mum took a collection of piccies and here they are:
Chilling
Well today dogbloggers I don’t have great news, my mum has got the flu
How rubbish for her being on holiday too….. double
She got up about 1:00am and was shivering and shaking, but when I went to give her a cuddle she felt really really hot! In the end I told her her to get on the couch with the blanket and I would look after her.
I put the darts on the TV for her to watch and told dad to just go back to sleep as I had eveything under control. Eventually, and after some night nurse, mum drifted off back to sleep and we all were fairly ok till the morning.
It has meant that today though, mum has felt pretty shocking all day and dad took me out for a long walk just so mum could get some rest. This of course was brilliant for dad and I as we got to explore some bits of the forest that we hadn’t seen before and we also got to have another look at the fancy new treehouse accommodation.
We have considered coming home a day early today as mum feels so rubbish, but seeing as her tummy is a bit poorly to, we have decided to stay for the final night. Dad was also poorly when we arrived with a cold so we are all feeling a bit below par. Well of course, when I say “we” I don’t mean me… the humans might have be feeling the strain, but I have had a WHALE of a time – sniffing and walking and eating and sniffing again – the forest is great! ♥
Now then, I have got to go, it’s my turn to make the Lemsips!
New Years Day
Welcome to 2011 dogbloggers! To give you a “sit rep”, I am still at Centre Parcs in Sherwoof Forest and I am still having a bonza time. Can you believe that I been blogging since 2008 and this makes us almost 3 years old
Woopeeee….
Today though is all about squizzers for me and if you are familiar with dogblog you will of course know that a “squizzer” is a squirrel in my world…Dad put loads of bird food out onto our patio table this morning and before we knew it, we were inundated with the local wildlife… and this includes squizzers…
As you can see from mum’s video, squizzer watching is my favourite sport and always puts me on “high alert”. I am not exactly sure what I would do if I caught one, mum reckons I am too soft and would probably just want to play with it
I haven’t been for a mammoth walk yet as mum and dad have gone to Starbucks for breakfast, but I am ready and waiting when they arrive and they will be pleased to hear that I have only spread the contents of the bin over half of the villa instead of all of it… (sorry dad).
Woof Woof – love the forest I do. xx
Today is our 2nd full day here at Centre Parcs and we have been for another big walk this morning. Dad reckons we have walked about 6 miles over the 2 days – is it any wonder I’m pooped? I am not allowed off the lead here, mum says its for my own protection and the protection of the local wildlife – so most of our walks are me just trotting alongside mum whilst on high alert at all times for possible squizzers. I have to say though, I am much more restrained when I see wildlife these days. I still get quite excited and try to chase them – but there might have been a time when I almost pulled mum over I got so excited.
Thankfully no bath today, but mum and dad went for their special bath at the Aqua Sana and when they came back I missed them so much, I made dad take me out for little walk twice within an hour. (Don’t tell him, I didn’t need to “go”, I just missed him and wanted a bit of dad time).
It is of course New Years Eve, which for the majority of the UK means going out and getting drunk to celebrate the incoming New Year. For dad, mum and I, it might mean a few fireworks and it will definitely mean lots of episodes of Desperate Housewives…. do we care ? Do we WOOF!!!!
What the woof?!?! So today right, you know today, I mean the day that is today…Well today I am supposed to be on holiday innit and just because I got a little muddy on our walk – dad PUT ME IN THE BATH!!!!! Now I have heard of some ridiculous things, but no-one told me that I would have to do the thing I hated the most ON HOLIDAY!!! I have had to jump on the bed and raid the bin just to calm myself down……
But I have to say that we did a massive walk this morning which encompassed sausage baps in The Country Club, tickles behind the ear from some lovely humans near the aquatique and a little trip to Guest Services to tell them about our stuck bathroom plugs. Actually the Country Club was my favourite as dad kept feeding me sneaky sausages and there were also lots of other dogs there for me to sniff and try to make friends with. Acesness.
After my horrid bath, mum and dad went out to do some shopping, so I was left minding the den again – I am getting really used to my afternoon npas and squizzer watching. Actually, goodness knows what the interest is in Starbucks and FatFace anyway – the mind boggles as to what you would buy there…..
I have just come back from my 3rd walk of the day – 1 major and 2 more “business” related…. I don’t care – I just love the forest. Woof Woof.
Boy oh boy dogbloggers, we have arrived in Centre Parcs at Sherwoof Forest and it’s like we have never been away. We had a fairly uneventful journey** and before I knew it, we were driving into the forest again. Wowee… it still looks just as wonderful with lots of squizzers and runny babbits. We put all our things in our den and then we went to the parc market for something for tea. Guess what??? Whilst I was waiting outside the shop for mum, a lovely human came up to dad and I and told us that they had left their doggy at home (aww) but they had just found some dog biscuits in their pocket and would I like them? You can imagine the answer
They were scrummy – thanks Mrs human. xxx
We have been nicely settled in our villa for a little while now and I have sniffed almost every inch of the floor. I think I have detected 458 different dog smells, 803 different humans, 3 types of chicken, 2 sausages and more than a few biscuits crumbs — BRILLIANT!!
Anyway, we are just having a little chill in the den, mum is watching Mary Poppins and dad is reading a magazine with a husky on it (typical). I think later on the footie is on in the Jardin de Sport, so seeing as I’m not allowed in there, I think I will just have a little hollibob zzzzz. I can’t believe we are here
p.s. a few little things have changed since we were last here…. I mean they haven’t yet got “chip and pin”, but at least they have got free wi-fi! Woof Woof
** mum told me to remember, M6,M62 toward Leeds, A1(M) *shakes head* …. no I have no idea either….
Hello there dogbloggers, Peggy’s mum Gill here. I thought I would post a little information about Center Parcs as I have had a couple of emails about going on holiday there from people who read Peggy’s blog. If there is anything I haven’t answered below, please email me peggy@haydockdogblog.co.uk and I will do my best find out for you.
Q. Can I take dogs to Center Parcs?
Yes, we have taken Peggy 6 times now and have loved it every time.
Q. How much is it to take a dog and can I take more than 1?
Yes, you can take up to 2 dogs and it is £55 to take 1 and £80 to take 2*.
Q. Are there special villas for dogs?
Yes, all the dog villas are in the same areas grouped together but not separated from the non dog villas. They are only special in that dogs are allowed.
Q. Can I leave my dog alone in the villa?
Yes, you can happily leave your dog alone in the villa. The only time you have to be careful is if you ever have to have a Centre Parcs member of staff visit, then you have to make sure you are in so that you can supervise your dog. For example, on our first visit, we accidentally knocked the boiler off and a member of maintenance staff had to come to switch it back on. They were so fast, he arrived back at our villa before we did and even though he had a master key, he waited until we got back before he went in because he could hear Peggy dog.
Q. Can my dog be let off the lead at Center Parcs?
No, to protect the safety of both your dog and the extensive wildlife in the forest, dogs must be kept on a lead. However there are a couple of “dog exercise areas” usually quite close to the dog villas which are small fenced off areas of the forest. You are encouraged to take your dog there, as they can go off lead whilst they do their business.
Q. Can I take my dog around the Center Parcs Village and into public areas?
Yes, dogs are welcomed in the public areas and on the extensive footpaths, usually by both staff and other guests. They are welcomed in all outdoor areas and especially to sit outside the many cafes and eateries that CP’s has to offer. The cafes usually have patio heaters – so if the summer doesn’t join us again this year – you won’t be too cold. Unfortunately, dogs are not usually allowed in indoor areas.
Q. Can I buy pet food whilst at Center Parcs?
The Parc Market is the village shop and usually has an extensive stock of anything and everything you might need for your stay – including the main brands of dog food (Pedigree Chum etc)
Q. Do Center Parcs provide any other dog facilities, i.e. dog blanket or bowls?
No, but there are extra blankets and bowls as part of the villa facilities, so you could use them.
Q. Just in case, is there a Vet nearby?
Certainly at Sherwood Forest, there is a brilliant vet within 1.5 miles of the village, but the staff on the information desk are more than happy to help with all these types of enquiries.
Overall, I find Center Parcs a very lovely place to take a dog for a holiday and that is why we keep going back. It is one of the few places I have been where the customer service is exceptional and the staff give you the genuine impression that nothing is too much trouble. I can highly recommend it. Oh no!!!! We were supposed to be going to Centre Parcs on Monday, but now we aren’t going
They have just called us as there have been some suspected incidents of animals being poisoned! They said that 3 dogs that have been walked in Sherwood Forest (but outside CP’s) have died and two more from CP’s have been taken poorly.
So mum & dad wrangled over what to do & considering everything we have been through, decided to cancel……
*sniff sniff*
We are all gutted, if not distraught, but mum at the last minute, has booked us all into a cottage in Wales, so at least that’s something…
I am giddy, yes giddy giddy giddy. I just had to jump on dogblog and tell you what I heard the other night. I thought I heard mum & dad talking about holidays. Now then, I am not sure what this is exactly but I am sure it is human for forests and trees and squizzers!!!!!! They mentioned October which mum says is a little while off, but I don’t mind, it just give me something to look forward to. I am just now trying to guess where we might be going and hoping that I get to have a good sleep in the car on the way…… Maybe it’s Centre Parcs???? Hang on i’ll ask Mum…
OK.. I have just asked her and WE ARE going to Centre Parcs in Nottingham! Come the Woof on. Now I am PROPERLY giddy!
Oh I am SO fed up. Today is the day that we have come home from our lovely holidays
No more squizzers, no more forest, no more DEFCON1!! Well not for while anyway. We have just arrived home and both mum and dad are a bit down at being back in not-so-sunny Haydock. Oh well, if you want to ready my little diary from our holidays, follow the links below for the daily blog entries and then of course all our photos are in the gallery below… Happy reading Woof Woof!!! xx
